Nashville
Before we reach party time at Ole Red Nashville, you’ve got your pick of activities to live it up the last few days of 2019.
If you’re in town in the days before New Year’s Eve, don’t miss the Music City Bowl taking place on December 30. Before an SEC team and Big Ten team face off at the 50-yard line, all the action will take place at the fan zone. The main event: a hot chicken eating contest, where professional gluttons for punishment will compete by devouring as much of our city’s scorching-hot delicacy as they can in eight minutes.
Want to race against the clock without the heartburn? If you’ve heard Blake Shelton’s song “Ol’ Red,” then you know we’re pretty good escape artists. Hone your own skills at The Escape Game — no time in the slammer required. With a downtown location just a few blocks from Ole Red, The Escape Game has several challenging rooms to choose from. Find gold that the old prospector stowed away before the mob gets to it, or land a Nashville record deal by solving a series of clues left by a producer in his studio.
As the clock hand nears midnight on December 31, make sure you’re at Ole Red. It’s the hot spot on Broadway to welcome a new decade. Get ready to country down and disco up. Tishomingo
Fill the last week of 2019 with all the things you hope to have more of in the new year. That doesn’t just mean eating collard greens and black-eyed peas to usher in good fortune. (“Peas for pennies, greens for dollars, and cornbread for gold,” that old saying goes.) Whether you wish for your 2020 to involve more fishing, wine-drinking, relaxing, or a little bit of all three, it’s shaping up to be a great year already in Tishomingo.
Start your day by heading for the Blue River — just about 10 miles from the doorstep of Ole Red — and enjoy for a walk in the woods. Then hang around for some prime fishing opportunities; the river is stocked with rainbow trout every couple of weeks in the winter.
But if fishing ain’t your thing — or even if it is — make your way to nearby Old Silo Winery. With a tasting room that’s housed inside an old grain silo, the winery is a true Tishomingo gem. Old Silo grows Chambourcin, a grape variety that’s abundant in Oklahoma. The resulting wine is a nouveau red with dry, fruity notes. This holiday, try the blackberry wine, a recent addition to the tasting room that’s made with blackberries grown right here in Johnston County. The tasting room is usually closed on Tuesdays but will be open on New Year’s Eve from noon to 5 p.m.
Keep on shaking off any of that holiday stress with a massage at Spa 211, a Main Street destination with resort-style amenities in small-town Tishomingo. Forget Christmas sugar plums — we’re all about Spa 211’s brandied pear butter message. The spa will also offer two specials on December 27, 28, and 31. Enjoy a 50-minute Swedish couples massage or a 50-minute Swedish massage and signature facial. Both services are $145 (regularly $160).
As the sun starts to set, gather up the family to see the larger-than-life lights display at the Chickasaw National Capitol Building. The building’s exterior is all decked out now through New Year’s Eve, making it the perfect stop before you head over to Ole Red for our Ole Red New Year’s Bash.

Gatlinburg
We’re switching things up at Ole Red Gatlinburg as your official pre-party destination ahead of the midnight countdown. Join us starting at 2 p.m. for live music featuring Cole Sitzlar and Backwater Still. We’ll be jamming out until 9 p.m. while throwing down with great food and signature drinks.
Come closing time, take your party to the Gatlinburg Space Needle for the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show. Departure, a Journey tribute band, will play the hits you love beginning at 10:30 p.m. If you want a bird’s-eye view of the fireworks spectacle, head for the hills and hop on the SkyLift. Gatlinburg SkyLift Park will host a late-night party with primo views along the SkyBridge.
