Celebrate National Margarita Day With These Ole Red-cipes

National Margarita Day is on February 22nd, y’all! If there’s one thing about Ole Red, we know how to celebrate any occasion with an ice-cold drink. Salt or sugar rim, frozen or on the rocks—we like ‘em all, as long as they’re honky-tonk strong.

We’ve rounded up Margarita recipes from Ole Reds so you can join the celebration. Come down to Ole Red and enjoy one with a side of live music, or whip one up yourself and impress all your friends with your mad mixology skills.

STRAWBERRY MARGARITA

FROM OLE RED NASHVILLE

This February-only special celebrates the sweeter things in life. Make sure you snap a pic for the ‘gram—it’s almost too pretty to drink! (We said almost. Bottoms up, y’all.)

Ingredients: 

  • 1.5 oz. Altos Plata Tequila
  • 0.5 oz. Triple Sec 
  • 1 oz. Strawberry Purée 
  • 6 oz. Sour Mix 
  • 0.5 oz. Lime Juice 
  • Sugar Crystals (for Rim)
  • Lime wedge (for Garnish)

Instructions: 

  1. Run lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip in sugar crystals.
  2. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. 
  3. Shake well. 
  4. Strain over fresh ice into a sugar-rimmed souvenir pint glass.
  5. Garnish with lime wedge.

MOUNTAIN BERRY RITA

Leave behind the classic lime and get a taste of the mountain air. Raspberries and huckleberries grow here in the Smokies—and boy do they taste good with tequila.

 Ingredients: 

  • 1.25 oz. Tequila 
  • 0.75 oz. Raspberry Liqueur  
  • 1 oz. Huckleberry Puree 
  • 8 oz. Sour Mix 
  • Lime Wedge (for Garnish)

Instructions: 

  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. 
  2. Shake well. 
  3. Strain over fresh ice into a souvenir mason jar.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge. 

SOME BEACH MARGARITA

FROM OLE RED LAS VEGAS

Forget all your troubles and find yourself on Some Beach with this sin city special. Because its Vegas, we add a little somethin’ special on top. We’re extra like that.

Ingredients: 

  • 2.5 oz. Tequila 
  • 1 oz. Cointreau 
  • 2.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice 
  • 2 oz. Agave Nectar 
  • 0.5 oz. Grand Marnier Float 
  • Lime Wheel (for Garnish)

Instructions: 

  1. Combine all ingredients except the Grand Marnier into a shaker with ice. 
  2. Shake well. 
  3. Strain over fresh ice into souvenir glass. 
  4. Pour Grand Marnier floater on top. 
  5. Garnish with fresh lime wheel. 

OKIE-RITA

FROM OLE RED TISHOMINGO

Local Okies from Blake’s hometown like a little southwestern flair. Smooth, spicy, fresh, and sweet—this one’ll light you up in more ways than one.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. Hornitos Tequila
  • 0.5 oz. Triple Sec
  • 3-4 slices Fresh Jalapeño (Muddled)
  • 0.75 oz. Honey
  • Margarita Mix (To Fill)
  • Fresh Cilantro (for Muddling & Garnish)
  • Lime Wheel (for Garnish)
  • Kosher Salt (for Rim)

Instructions:

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim and dip in kosher salt.
  2. In a shaker, muddle the jalapeños with honey and a few cilantro leaves.
  3. Add tequila and triple sec to shaker. Fill with margarita mix. Shake well.
  4. Pour over fresh ice into souvenir glass. 
  5. Garnish with fresh lime wheel and sprig of cilantro.

FROZEN STRAWBERRY OR LIME MARGARITA

FROM OLE RED ORLANDO

Hot Florida days call for something frozen. Nothin’ goes better with porch season than the sound of a blender.

Ingredients: 

  • 1.5 oz. Tequilla  
  • 0.5 oz Orange Liqueur 
  • 2 oz. Sour Mix 
  • 6 oz. Margarita Mix – Strawberry or Lime  
  • Lime or Lemon Wedge (for Garnish)

Instructions: 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender. 
  2. Add a cup of ice and blend well. 
  3. Pour into a souvenir mason jar.
  4. Garnish with a lemon and a lime wedge. 

AMARILLO BY MORNING

FROM OLE RED NASHVILLE AIRPORT

Get your ‘rita on before you’re wheels up. Inspired by Texas flavors, this spicy twist on a classic marg will have you on cloud 9 with Amarillo on your mind.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. Reposado Tequila
  • 0.5 oz. Triple Sec
  • 0.75 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.75 oz. Jalapeño Cilantro Syrup
  • Smoked Salt (for Rim)
  • Lime Wheel (for Garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim and dip in smoked salt.
  2. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. 
  3. Shake well. 
  4. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge.
